Stand Up Paddleboarding

Stand up paddlesboards (SUPs) can be used on all of the sessions and courses shown below.

Equipment hire

The price of the ‘Come and Try’ session includes equipment hire; for all other sessions equipment hire is not included in the price. We have some equipment we can hire directly (see here for prices) and we work with local hire companies where appropriate to make sure you have everything you need.

Please note that buoyancy aids are mandatory for all kayakers and canoeists, and advisory for paddleboarders.

Introduction to Paddleboarding on the Sea

This session is for people who are comfortable paddling on flat water such as the Hamble, Itchen or Basingstoke Canal and would like to start taking their paddleboard on the sea.

We’ll start from Warsash and head towards the mouth of the Hamble and then into Southampton Water. This is an excellent venue for the first step into coastal journeys and paddling on the sea.

As well as looking at how to adapt your paddling for this more dynamic environment we’ll also cover some of the topics that come into play when paddling on busy rivers and the sea – so for example the meaning of the various buoys and how to use a tidal stream atlas.
